Her story began in her homeland of Lebanon where Nicole became the first person to bring dance music to Beirut and provide big name DJs with a taste of the Middle East. Hosting an unforgettable party between a bombed out mosque and a church, Nicole proved that dance music had the power to unite; an ideology that’s become all the more relevant throughout the years. Upon moving to London she ran Southeast Recordings, which became home to artists like T-Total, Christian Hornbostel and Tom Stephan, and spearheaded Soundworx at legendary London club Turnmills. Born in Ibadan (Nigeria), Nicole lived her early years in Lagos, before moving with her family to Lebanon. Her studies in London led her to get into clubbing and she began to travel. “I fell in love with house music in NY back in 1989, hearing Junior Vasquez and Danny Tenaglia” says Nicole. “Since then I’ve travelled the world chasing the best parties, from Paris to Madrid, Amsterdam, NY, LA, London, Ibiza and beyond.” Now Nicole has begun producing and her tracks have been picked up by the likes of Azuli Records, Plastic City and The Shapeshifters’ own Nocturnal Groove label. “I’m a creative, but also an entrepreneur, and I love to express this through all aspects of my environment – sound, vision, everything” says Nicole.

One of the most frequent names in Plastic City label’s history has convinced his audience and critics by always being different while remaining a unique character of the housy upper class. The day machines learned how to love, the satellites careened one last time round the earth till they’d spent all their power, petered out and burned up in the atmosphere. Things had come full circle. At the dawn of the 18th century they’d entered the evolutionary arena as a brand new species. At first, although they soon evinced creaturely emotions and musical intuition, the humanoids exploited them as tractable slaves. The machines – and this is the latest zoologically accurate designation for this life form – have only undergone their long overdue emancipation in our day.
Under their nom de guerre “Alphawezen”, Ernst Wawra and his singing comrades-in-arms Asu, Verena, Simone and Fred have already twice demonstrated their expertise in the weird and wonderful world of electro-apparatus. Their first two sound carriers, “L’Après-Midi d’un Microphone” and “En Passant”, floated with somnambulistic lightness and poise over the fertile no-man’s land between the genres of trip-hop, house and electropop, hovering over the fine line between art and kitsch. On the third album “Comme Vous Voulez” Alphawezen takes us through the vast realm between experimentation and calculated effects, bringing us full circle to the first album. Since the days of the legendary band Kraftwerk, many have shown that machines can produce more than just rhythmically repetitive booming and thumping. But it wasn’t till Alphawezen’s musical experiments that we learned that polyphonically intertwined enunciations of their vitality have the melodic quality and complexity of 19th-century Italian arias. Naturally, the next question is what skills this lovable species needs to learn now to attain at long last the coveted status of fully-fledged living beings. The answer is: breathing. If you would like to listen to an interview from the band, please visit: Talk about Alphawezen.
“The Dark Side” is the new groundbreaking composition from Harthouse – highly epidemic and instantly causes addictive behaviour. The wisely assorted collection of artists is a clue for how high the bar has been raised and you can look forward to the adverse effects. Quite varied artists unify within a incomparable fusion which resembles a suspenseful myth. “The Dark Side” quickly dispreads through the whole body and lets appear everything in a clearer, more powerful and detailed way than one is accustomed to. The well known artists go hand in hand with the new talents – a well balanced mixture of well known ingredients and innovative substances whereas the heroes from the hour of birth are in no way inferior to the newcomers and sound newer than ever. Including brand new tracks from Boris Brejcha, Mihalis Safras, Zoo Brazil, Ümitm Han, Ralph Sliwinski, Cave, Sascha Barth, Der Dritte Raum, Halland, Tom Wax, Spicelab, Joel Mull, Billy Dalessandro and many more aim at bulls eye and definitely hit it.
In his teenage years, Ralph was into the first electronic groups such as Visage, Soft Cell and Front 242, as well as a party maniac from the start. His own first sounds were produced back in 1990 on a Commodore 64 computer, while his first DJ Sets took place at several Acid Parties in the Frankfurt area in the same year. In 1996 Ralph expanded his musical horizon with the purchase of his first studio gear. From then on, many electronic dance music productions were created. Between 1996 and 1998 he was a System operator at Compuserve, where he was in charge of managing the Techno, House and DJ Zone sections of the music forum. Ralph’s first big releases came out in 1999 through Neuton : Schub AG-Tritone Rec., Laut 29- Black Love Rec., Releases on Frisbee Tracks plus several Compilations and EP´s followed on labels such as Below Rec., Hartchef Discos, Morris Audio and now on Harthouse…
Together with Smilla, Christian Gimbel, Mihalis Safras and Boris Brechja, Sascha Barth is one of the new promising artists on “Harthouse”. After one release on Monika Kruse’s ‘Terminal M’ Imprint and his debut EP on Harthouse a view month ago, there will be now his third 4 track EP titled ‘Das Dritte Auge’ on Harthouse. His Sound is minimalistic yet forward pushing with a pintch of Funk. His productions show a high musical expertise and are proof of his talent to not only follow existing trends, but redefine them as well.
Goktug Citci was born in the beautiful city called Istanbul in 1979. He came across with electronic music in the beginning of 90s, and started listening to everything he could find. The archive he had been accumulating over the years was neither fitting his house, nor his soul anymore. What gave him a buzz is being able to share his music with others, so with the thought of -Music is best when shared-, he started a radio show at the now defunct: Radio Cool, where he also started tampering with music production. This was the year 1997. Fast-forward to 2001, and the first product of his newly established home studio was “Cervus – Faraway” on XTC Records. His second release on Sadie Records, “Four Days” was featured in Paul Van Dyk’s “Politics of Dancing” compilation; which also marks the birth of Subsky. Starting in 2003, he was releasing his hazy, melancholic, melodic and intelligent dance music infused with groovy eclectic themes back to back on respected labels. “Strawberry Fields”, which appears on Nick Warren’s GU24 Reykjavik, is one of those that makes you go: Sounds like Subsky! 2004 witnessed the launch of Red Flag Collective, the label that he formed with Yunus Guvenen, Baris Turker and Muzo B. “Let it Flow” was the second release on RFC and it enjoyed the top spot of the Balance Chart. His booty of Miss Kittin’s “Professional Distortion” was a huge hit with Sasha and had a dwell on everyone else’s mind who partied that summer. In addition to his production career, he’s been djing in Turkey and around the globe for the past 10 years. He was crowned the No. 1 dj in Turkey in 2005. With a career that is punctuated by landmark achievements, he tries to reflect his own sound to his dj sets and he is known as a ‘satisfaction guaranteed’ dj by partygoers and promoters in Turkey.
Even though he only came second place – behind Mark Medlock – at ‘Deutschland sucht den Superstar’ he was definately the winner of hearts. The german Girls love Martin Stosch. This is confirmed by no less than 45,000 Guestbook entries on his Homepage. The Fact that he only received the Silver Trophy at the RTL Casting Show, seems to have become a real Advantage. During the past Year the 17 year old from Landshut was able to spread his creative Wings without Expectations or Pressure from the Public. Together with the Munich based Producer Team ‘Beatpower Music’ he managed to create his own unique Identity. And now he is proving to everyone that he can make it even without the help of the Casting Show. He drops the pretty Boy Image and reinvents himself. He still is the perfect Son in law, but nowadays also an independent Artist with an Edge. And he surprises with a brand new Sound. Still dreamy but more rocking and first and foremost, in German. “Now I can finally show my real self” he says excited, and feels completely liberated. “I enjoy singing in German! I can simply express my Emotions better in my mother Tongue. And best of all I can now communicate much better with my Fans through my Lyrics!”. And indeed he pulls it of perfectly on his brand new Single “Zeit meines Lebens” (= “Time of my Life”), which was tailor-made for him by Beatpower Music. He does not only project a universal Joy for Life with this mid-tempo Ballad, but also tells his very own Story with his soft as velvet Voice. Martin is a Fighter, someone that never doubted himself or his Music. And the Time of his life is not over yet for him. In Fact, he is right in the Middle of it….
