The Burhorn feat. Y’ Akoto – You Will Never Know (Mole Listening Pearls)

The project “The Burhorn” lives from the co-production with many different artists from Hamburg and Berlin. A lot of different artists contributed to the beautiful result of the first single as well: The brilliant voice comes from Jennifer while Yaa Kieck Akoto aka Y ‘Akoto, the trumpets and keys are played by Thomas Burhorn, the bass clarinet by Sebastian Borkowski, the drums by Sönke Reich and the bass is contributed by Robin Engelhardt. There’re also drumprogramming and guitar by Philip Guenther and the unmistakable Cuts by Gehad Ujeyl aka Mr. Beats. “The Burhorn” is an alien drumcomputeranimal with trumpet trunk (like from an elephant). Sometime in the distant future it will come to us to bring back our paradise on earth (so the legend says). Anyone who does not want to wait such a long time should at least listen to the new songs from “The Burhorn”. “You Will Never Know” is inspired by Portishead, Massive Attack, and Ursula Rucker. The title is a co-production with the singer Y ‘Akoto, a songstress from Hamburg known from various musical projects in Hamburg (Hot Air Balloon, Pilotfilm, Tom Hugo). The recordings were made in a cozy basement studio in the heart of St. Pauli in Hamburg. If you listen closely, even the pulse of urban neighborhood and port can be heard in the background. The track F’n’P was created in collaboration with Grunert, who has composed film music in addition to his solo albums already for the German TV series “Tatort” and some other films. In the past, Thomas Burhorn worked together with a lot of live musicians (eg Fettes Brot, Dennis Lisk, Kettcar) and already produced several music for various commercials.

Lukas Greenberg – You’re Alive (mp3 EP) – Plastic City. Play

For his second album “Prisoner With A Key”, Lukas Greenberg worked together again with the singer and electronic musician Karl Jenkins aka Ideophonic from Great Britain, who was also part of the “Rhode Stories” production process before. Furthermore he engaged the vocalist Nica Brooke, who is working on her new album at the moment together with Grammy Award winner Don Mizell. The result is a great combination of warm, bright and tight tracks which we inclined to call album art. “Prisoner With A Key” is also a real masterpiece on account of metamorphosing jazz, funk and soul elements into a new and electronic surrounding. This album is a must have for everybody who does not want to miss the next step of high quality electronic music: intelligent, complex and absolutely deep! The single “You’re Alive” includes three brand new versions of album tracks. All of them are more club orientated and show once more, that Lukas Greenberg is a talent for producings tasteful (album-) songs but he also can produce functional arranged dancetracks for the clubs.

Plastic City Play. Play. Play (compilation) Plastic City. Play

Plastic City is reinventing itself by playfully dreaming up alternative realities – again and again, one after the other. Time for a resumee: The play of words with “Plastic City” and “Play”, which originally was merely a name of a compilation concept in 2006, get its inherent autonomy. Without any previously construction plan the town has grown again and retroactive we can ascertain, that Plastic City got a new suburb (Kat#: play). A lot of new interesting faces romp around there: Greek Nikola Gala and Frenchman El Farouki, the Swiss artist Da Funk, the Hungarians Budai & Vic, Berlin based Lukas Greenberg, Adam Jace from Australia as well as Lincoln Six Echo from Poland. All of them started to release on “Plastic City. Play” and if you heard some of their releases you know, that this is the next generation of young fresh and hungry artists. And like throughout in a city the new arrivals and the known habitants mix each other very fast and build something innovative. The compilation “Plastic City Play. Play. Play” is a summary of artists and tracks from this new sublabel, will show this growth. On top of this, you can find some new track which were never released on Plastic City before.

Instant Pleasure – Let’s Ride (mp3 EP) – Plastic City. Play

Hailing from Copenhagen, Denmark Instant Pleasure a.k.a. Jørn Johansen has been producing music since the mid 90’ies. He had his first release on Plastic City in summer 2001 with his “Catch A Groove” single with the brilliant tracks “Catch A Groove”, “Love Break”, “I’m Down With You” and “In A Restful State”. Since then Jørn Johansen hasn’t produced any music. So after almost a decade of absence from the music scene he felt it was about time to start producing again. A view month ago we found his new demo in our mailbox and of course we get in contact with him (again). From the previous release to the present his trademark is still a groovy and melodic orientated sound. So we´re pround to have Instant Pleasure back on Plastic City. Available Format: mp3.

Free Download: DJ Yellow presents Mindz Kontrol Ultra – She Is Gone – Plastic City

In the eighties DJ Yellow pushed forward French hip hop and he also had big influence on what French house music is today. Currently, Alain Ho aka DJ Yellow is one of the electronic music artists who established himself as one of the forward thinking artists in general. With his label Yellow Productions (founded 1993 with his mate Bob Sinclar) he released artists like Salome De Bahia, Dimitri From Paris, Joe Clausell, Bang Bang and Kid Loco. With his second imprint Poussez Music (founded in 2003) he created an outlet for his own sounds. Thus here he started his projects Alienation, Intermission and Paule with which he experimented on different fields of electronic music. On the new album DJ Yellow fuses characteristics of deep, funky and tech-house by using tender basses and well dosed percussion lines, paired with some real e-bass parts one feels remembered to the album “Paradise” from Bob Sinclar (which Alain assisted to). But these little elements can only be seen as little quotes to the roots. All in all the album, which was produced together with Portuguese producer Tiago Fragateiro (aka Hi-Tech²), provides a clever mixture of deep and funkyness. Using dark and promising spoken words from time to time the record takes a mystic narrative mindset at the very beginning. What follows is an emulsion of warm arrangements with a strong and well balanced base that aims directly to the dancefloor.
