Yonderboi – Passive Control (Mole Listening Pearls)
Like every Yonderboi record “Passive Control” is as well a diverse, story-like collection of songs, with a strong personal background. Even though the eleven songs are spread on a large-scale of styles, compared to the earlier works it is a bit less eclectic. Yonder produced and mixed the entire record alone in his Budapest home studio, the aim was to develop a more electronic and skeletonized version of his sound. The whole album has an elusive feel of utopia, which can be explained easily by Yonder’s love for science fiction ever since he was a kid. Jean Gireaud Moebius the legendary French comics artist, Russian sci-fi movie “Kin-Dza-Dza”, or Hungarian cult-film “Meteo” are just a few examples that inspired him during the making of “Passive Control”. More information: Yonderboi – Passive ControlZagar – Cannot Walk Fly Instead (Mole Listening Pearls)
On their second album entitled “Cannot Walk Fly Instead”, they mix cosmic electronic tunes with psychedelic prog-rock while sometimes using church choir elements and quotes from movies to merge the past and the future in a surrealistic way. For the song “Wings of Love” they invite on top six of the most popular independent female singers from Hungary (The Underground Divas). The concept of the album is a kind of exodus from the stereotypes of cosmopolitan urban living, delving into the mysteries and spiritual experiences of the 21st Century Man. They try to convey their imaginations with simple regular issues as solitude, desire for love, nostalgia or vanity. The title “Prophet Is A Fool” is already a small foretaste of the exciting new album by Zagar. More information: Zagar – Cannot Walk Fly Instead

The new album “Touchtones” from the band Subsignal (Golden Core Records) entered the official German Media Control album charts on position 53 as well as the official German newcomer charts (# 5). Congratulations!Subsignal was founded in 2007 by the former Sieges Even-members Arno Menses (Vocals) and Markus Steffen (Guitars). The first result of this collaboration was the song ‚A Wallflower On The Day Of Saint Juliana‘, which made its way to the 2007 Sieges Even album ‘Paramount’ under the title ‚Eyes Wide Open‘. After Arno Menses and Markus Steffen had left Sieges Even in summer 2008, they were looking for adequate musicians to turn Subsignal into to a real, functional band. The first guy to join the new outfit was bass player Ralf Schwager, known for his work with German progband Dreamscape. The line-up was completed with Drummer Roel van Helden, known for his collaboration with Dutch band Sun Caged, and Dreamscape’s David Bertok on keyboards. Subsignal define themselves as a progressive rock band, which is open to different styles and genres (e.g. AOR, Metal, etc.). They describe their music as melancholic, innovative, emotional and highly melodic. Arno and Markus aim to tie in with Subsignal to where Sieges Even stopped, with the difference of being more open musically and showing a stronger presence on stage. In April 2009 the band signed a record contract with German label Golden Core (ZYX Records). Subsignal have recorded their first CD in spring 2009, with producer Kristian Kohlmannnslehner who was also responsible for Sieges Even’s ‚Paramount‘-album. The album was entitled‚ Beautiful and Monstrous‘ and contained 10 tracks. Subsignal played some tours in support of the album with bands like SAGA and German Krautrock legends Jane, as well as several solo concerts throughout Europe. Now, the second album “Touchtones” was released on the label Golden Core Records (ZYX Records) and it’s digitally distributed via digedo.

Sleep is a naturally recurring state characterized by reduced or absent consciousness. The Music of Naomi was always a sleeping beauty. Reviewing their last albums, the “Rolling Stone magazine” described Naomi as “wondrous“. They still are. Just with the new album with a bang. “Sleep” is the third single from Naomis longplayer The Big Shapes”. The overall sound of the album reminds one of… well, nothing else, really. Massive backbeats carry scratchy guitar riffs, buzzing synths cut through gentle electric piano lines as the Berlin duo digs deep into the pop vocabulary of the past four decades. “Sleep“ ponders the fact that only those who don’t act at all make no mistakes. This release includes a brand new Dubstep Remix from Ron Paul.

itunes-charts-hungary-1.jpg
After long years of work the author of unique and successful albums “Shallow and Profound” (2000) and “Splendid Isolation” (2005) is back with his new long-player, “Passive Control”, which is considered to be the third, closing part of the trilogy. “Passive Control” is another typical contradictory, multilayered Yonderboi title that can be explained in different ways. One of them refers to the constantly changing and unpredictable economical/social situation of today, which is witnessed by most of us inertly, hoping that this recession-thing “gets sorted out” soon. The album’s opening song “Sustainable Development” is an equally beautiful and sarcastic interpretation of this phenomenon, featuring the suggestive voice of Edward Ka-Spel – who can be familiar already from the previous album’s closing song “Even if you are victorious”.

“Passive Control” could also describe the typical mindset that social networking sites create. You sign up, put yourself in the little showroom, and then you WAIT. Like fishing. Sometimes you throw in some bait, but secretly you hope that one day something unexpected will pull the other end of the line.”
