Lee Burton – Concrete Waves EP (Amam)
Lee Burton returns to the Amam imprint late July with the ‘Concrete Waves’ EP, featuring three original tracks and remixes from Paul Mad and The Magnecian.Greek producer Lefteris Kalabaks aka Lee Burton has been releasing material since 2010 via the likes of Athens based imprint Klik Records, Plastic City and of course Amam where he returns to here following a string of original productions for the label over the past few years. Across the ‘Concrete Waves’ EP Burton delivers his signature striking production style with finesse and an inherently understated quality throughout, kicking things off is ‘Le Coq’ which lays its focus on weighty, low-slung rhythms, swirling dub echoes and wreathing subs. Up next is ‘Kepler’ which tips the focus over a deeper, more refined palette of sound with soft ethereal textures, shuffling drums and pulsating bass tones, Hungarian producer Paul Mad’s take on ‘Kepler’ follows and reshapes the original number into a raw, stripped-back cut solely focused on modulating percussion
Archie Hamilton – Works On Sunday EP (Fuse London)
Archie Hamilton unleashes the ‘Works On Sunday EP’ on Fuse London, kicking off with ‘Mind Blank’ – a kinetic slice of pure peak time goodness, the track kicks into a high gear right from the start with rolling percussion leading to the bass line which serves as the grooves motif. The EPs vinyl only track ‘Works On Sunday’ switches gear, delving into deeper, headier territory with a more melodic leaning, an ethereal vocal snippet imbuing proceedings with a blissful feel whilst label staples Enzo Siragusa and Seb Zito take ‘Works on Sunday’ into a techier direction, toughening up the drums and roughing up the percussion on their remix.
Luca Bacchetti – Amazon (Endless)
Continually pushing back the boundaries of his comfort zone, Luca Bacchetti has always encouraged us to expect changes of direction and scene. Following last year’s acclaimed OVO EP he now releases AMAZON, his new single, once more full of surprises. Taking its cue from a memorable gig at the Lost Beach in Montañita, Equador it stands as an iconic symbol and, in this case, a tribute to the South American Continent. An incredible musical voyage spanning mystical, electronic and dreamlike dimensions which, like so much of his output, are inspired by and rooted in nature.
Crazy Sonic – Cuts / Assassin (Tronic)
Next up on Tronic release number 183 is a double tracker from Crazy Sonic consisting of two powerful groovers. First track “Cuts” is a euphoric one, solid drum work, steel pipe hits and a feeling of bohemia which blends in with metallic stabs and a airy melody to complete it and the second track “Assassin” is a burner with a hypnotic glacial melodic game to keep your mind locked till the end. Truly honest and into the point release!
