daredo media is proud to announce that our film “Mann im Spagat (Pace, Cowboy, Pace)” will be screened at the 7th Annual Queens World Film Festival which takes place from March 14th to 19th, 2017 in Queens, NYC!
The movie, directed by Timo Jacobs, is kind of a sequel to Jacobs’ debut “Klappe Cowboy!“: ‘Free swinging for word inhalation’ – For Cowboy as a libertine, and leader of the Headquarters for World Inhalation, that’s not such a big problem. He gives everything he’s got to clean up the environment, with the vision of saving the planet with his movement of Free Swingers. Cowboy applies for a grant from the Central Agency who sends a representative named Fey of Sweden to approve his proposal. She demands results, so he decides to stage a charity bicycle rally, featuring a roster of two-wheeled Berlin misfits. Realizing his vision of creating a better world could be so easy, were it not for his adversaries, who kill his mother’s bird and set the Devil of Hermannplatz on him in an effort to sabotage his plans – not the best timing, considering he also has to rescue his stubborn mother from a shady retirement home – and of course, her dying wish is to see Elvis perform. Impossible!
“Mann im Spagat (Pace, Cowboy, Pace)” features many well-known German actors, such as Meret Becker, Claude-Oliver Rudolph or Rolf Zacher, and pop icons from the likes of Olli Schulz and Friedrich Liechtenstein. See it at the Queens World Film Festival in March 2017!
The Slamdance Film Festival has unveiled its 23rd annual narrative and documentary feature film competition lineup, and “Beat Beat Heart” by director and screenwriter Luise Brinkmann will celebrate its international premiere at the ‘little brother’ of Sundance. We congratulate and are very honored to be a part of the team!
Some words on the film: Daydreaming her way out of a broken heart, Kerstin’s denial as well as her days are shaken up with the arrival of her mother, dealing with her own relationship’s demise. With the great cast of Lana Cooper (“Love Steaks”), Saskia Vester, Till Wonka and others, the movie represents the graduation work of Luise Brinkmann, DOP Mathis Hanspach, editor Maren Unterburger and producer Olivia Charamsa at the ifs (international film school Cologne) and, at the same time, is the first fictional feature film that has been made entirely at the ifs as a graduation film.
The Slamdance Festival, launched in 1995 as an alternative to Sundance, takes place at the Treasure Mountain Inn in Park City, Utah, from Jan. 20 to Jan. 26, and will screen 19 movies: 12 world premieres, three North American debuts, and one U.S. launch.

The latest project of German independent shooting star Philipp Eichholtz, “Luca tanzt leise” (English: “Luca’s Silent Dance”) is one of the feature films taking part in this year’s competition for the ‘new berlin film award’. The movie is “a little love-letter to all those whose biggest struggle is to get up in the morning every day. For those who need all their energy to manage the small things in life”, says Philipp. Here is a short synopsis: After a dark period in her life, Luca (Martina Schöne-Radunski) decides to finally finish her A-levels. Her little dog Mata brings her joy and mental support during that difficult time. In order to pass her math exam, she sets up a deal with Kurt: they will help each other.
We wish Philipp the best of luck for the competition and look forward to taking this gem of German independent cinema to the movie theaters.
The Film festival achtung berlin – new berlin film award presents an entire week full of fresh new movies from the capital: from April 13 to April 20, 2016 over 80 full-length, medium-length, short films and documentaries can be watched on the big screens. All films have been produced and shot in Berlin-Brandenburg.
The Competition Made in Berlin-Brandenburg is the heart of the festival and showcases the most exciting films of this season – including award-winning feature films, political documentaries and (cutting-edge) short films. The brand new section Berlin Coproductions gives international film productions in partnership with Berlin-Brandenburg a new platform to present their work. The film sections Highlights and Documents offer a broad place for new creative talents and strong topics – from ‘Kiezdoku’ (documentaries from the ‘hoods’ of Berlin) to Genre-Thrillers. The section Retrospective “Berlin in Fashion” invites movie fans to follow the history of Berlin’s Fashion in the 20th Century at the ‚Bundesplatz’ Cinema in Berlin-Wilmersdorf.
Exciting workshops, panel discussions and film parties provide a platform and networking space for the young creative Berlin film scene to exchange their ideas.
The Berlin based label Darling Berlin (daredo media) is a sponsoring partner as well as the price donor for the best actress and actor this year. Furthermore, the digital motion pictures aggregator daredo distribution, based in Frankfurt and Mannheim, is responsible for the achtung berlin YouTube channel.
One of the most prestigious German film festivals is currently taking place in Saarbrücken, named after a true pioneer of the German movie scene, director Max Ophüls. For daredo, it goes without saying that our staff is present there – with the Darling Berlin movies “Family Fever” (by Nico Sommer, German: “Familienfieber”) having won the Prize of Saarland’s First Minister for the Best Premiere in 2014 and “Love Steaks” (by Jakob Lass) having won the “Max Ophüls Film Prize” in the same year, we feel quite at home there.
The Max Ophüls Film Festival (18th to 24th January 2016) is always a great opportunity to see new movies and make contact with promising directors and innovative producers. The atmosphere is very informal and warm-hearted, and the business panels are always covering the latest developments in movie making and movie distribution, one of this year’s topics being the digital distribution of movies via Video-on-demand.
