Stripped Down hits a super sixth release with the hugely prolific Basti Grub at the helm. Over more than a decade this German producer has turned out an always evolving and vast amount of EPs and LPs. Using a range of different instruments and modular synths he cooks up inventive minimal tracks that are dance floor focused but packed with new ideas. First up here is solo track ‘Would Be An Angel’ which has a zoned out quality thanks to the harmonic bell sounds and stripped back rhythms. Enchanting vocals are hypnotic and the various breakdowns build the tension, only for things to roll on again and surely get huge reactions in the clubs. ‘Amelie’ is the second fantastic offering and finds Grub link with DJ Slowhand, who has been resident at Tanzhaus West FFM since 2011. Together they cook up a sparse techno track that takes you on a journey to the heavens, with lush chords, choral vocals and synth orchestration all exuding clean, crisp and classy feelings of subtle euphoria.

Ukrainian duo Orbit & Belogurov have long been responsible for crafting out some subtle and expert minimal house wares, and it’s a trick they repeat with distinction here – this time courtesy of Cesare vs Disorder’s and Quenum’s always on-point Serialism label. Backed by a remix of rising star Stephan Bazbaz (who teams up here with Asael Weiss), the Issue EP features three originals as well as the aforementioned remix, with each track on show most definitely worthy of your attention. Coming back to classic dub house on this release and also featuring some a flourish of minimal swing on the remix, ‘The Issue’ follows much-appreciated releases by The Mole and with a Cesare vs Disorder original on its way (will one will come backed with a remix by Dan Andrei) and a Quenum also (with a remix by Luciano) these are heady times indeed for the São Paulo/London based imprint.
First to go is Reboot, a long-time advocate of stripped down grooves on labels like Cadenza and Get Physical. His eight-minute masterpiece is a warm, underlapping house cut with sub bass and loose synths getting under your skin.
Moblack and Monaberry artist Sobek goes for something superbly slow burning,
layering up the poignant synths and drums into something that is poised and grandiose.
Next up, Ibizan based label boss Claudio Ricci is in fine form as he reworks ‘Galaxy 82’
into an upbeat bit of classy techno with serene Detroit pad work and thoughtful keys
taking you into the future.
Bardo & Salazar’s latest EP reaches you at exactly the right time in the right place: warmth and summer dreams as far as you can hear. The first hike takes you fare above the valleys, high into the Swiss Alps, where legends and myths reside and magical Murgsee reflects the image of the gods as they listen to the two Zurich lads. Here, smitten by the magic, even the „Honey“ starts to „Hula“. Is it „Le Piff“ rising from the pipe and dancing in smoke arabesques across the mountain ridges? It doesn’t matter. And luckily the two have brought along their dear friend M.A., our newest family member… refining „Le Piff“ in his „Piff Paff Puff“ remix and transforming it, with „Spliff“, into a hypnotic after slam…
“I start my career in 1991, I was 18 years old in France , I was playing commercial music, funk, disco, 80’s, euro dance, rock, pop, groove & RnB, and then I discover electronic music, first was trance music and few years after it was house music and from house music came deephouse. It was a kind of revelation.
In 2001 I start composing. It took me years to create something good and nice.
I released few tracks in different labels but the consecration was in 2016 when I sign my first album «Time lapse» on my favorite label of all time: Plastic City!
And now this is my 3rd album and this one is much more better than the two others . It’s the album of maturity.
because I give a lot of myself on this album…”
