You Record are proud to present their eleventh release, the ‘Kant Straße’ EP by S Katz aka Katsuhiko. From 2016 – 2017 he was granted the opportunity to produce multiple tracks at a studio on KantStraße in Berlin using hardware supplied by Dandy Jack, with whom the space is shared, and his dear friend Mathew Jonson. Opening track is a groove-driven roller with robotic glitches talking a language of their own. ‘Hats and Steps’ is a versatile dancefloor cut replete with subtle details and layered rhythms. ‘Forest In Me’ takes a trippy journey to the afterhours with immersive field recordings and entrancing blips. Closing the EP is ‘You Are In The Display’, a truly weird vocoder-led track with swung percussion and a shuffling bass melody. This EP serves as a prologue to S Katz’s forthcoming album.
Junichi Hoshino a.k.a. Tokyo Counterpoint started playing guitar when he was 14 years old. In 2001 he became a recording engineer and has done a lot of recordings in the studio so far. Since he had the chance to use a professional studio, he started to compose, arrange and remix songs and tracks. In 2003, he started his own solo project under the name “Tokyo Counterpoint” and released his first album “Oval” 2007 in Japan. The album was very successful in Japan and received No. 1 in Tower Records and No. 4 in HMV in Tokyo charts. Futhermore tha album got nice reviews in the Japanese music press like Remix Magazine, Floor net, and Sound & Recording Magazine. In 2009, Tokyo Counterpoint remixed and re-issued the album for Mole Listening Pearls. The new version of the album, totally new produced and remixed in 2009, also features three stellar additional tracks. One of these new songs, the deliciously erotic “Swimming in Love” showcasing the new vocalist Kanata Okajima, is a neo-disco jam that has Junichi Hoshino venturing out into uncharted waters again.
